First Frost Blog Tour: Review

Title: First Frost
Author: Liz De Jesus
Genre/s: Young Adult, Fantasy

Synopsis:

Fairytales aren’t real…yeah…that’s exactly what Bianca thought. She was wrong.

For generations, the Frost family has run the Museum of Magical and Rare Artifacts, handing down guardianship from mother to daughter, always keeping their secrets to “family only.”

Gathered within museum’s walls is a collection dedicated to the Grimm fairy tales and to the rare items the family has acquired: Cinderella’s glass slipper, Snow White’s poisoned apple, the evil queen’s magic mirror, Sleeping Beauty’s enchanted spinning wheel…

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn’t really exist.

She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

My Thoughts:

"My fairytale belief has been reborn"

Bianca Frost is your typical teenage girl who has a weak social life and was blessed with only one friend. She spend her summer helping her mother run their Museum of Magical and Rare Artifacts,  cleaning items that belonged to fairy tale characters (i.e. magic mirror of Mirabel, the spindle of Sleeping Beauty, the poisoned apple of Snow White and many more), which Bianca thought were all fakes.

But when an evil witch named Lenore attacked her mother in their backyard and she saw that her mother is fighting back with a fireball in her hands, Bianca finally found out that she was anything but ordinary.

First Frost is so original! I just love love love love the idea of a museum with magical items that came from fairy tales. It was so brilliant and entertaining. And other than the amazing plot and story-building, First Frost also has characters that were ridiculously random(especially Ming) and were laugh-out-loud funny. It's the whole package!

I highly recommend this to everyone who like fairytales, swoon-worthy knights and magical adventure.
